ਹਰਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਰਤ ਭੇਜਣ ਤੋਂ ਰੋਕਣ ਲਈ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ। ਉਸਦੀ ਪੋਤੀ, ਸੁਖਮੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ: “ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇਹ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਾਸਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਨੂੰ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਦੀ ਵੀ ਇਜਾਜ਼ਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ। ਅਸੀਂ ਉਸਦੀ ਭਾਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੇ। ਜਦੋਂ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਰੋ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਮਦਦ ਲਈ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ।”
