ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਦੀ ਉਪ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਵਿੱਤ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਸਤੀਫਾ
ਓਟਾਵਾ, 17 ਦਸੰਬਰ 2024 – ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਦੀ ਉਪ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਵਿੱਤ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਟੀਆ ਫਰੀਲੈਂਡ ਨੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਦੀ ਆਰਥਕ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਜਸਟਿਨ ਟਰੂਡੋ ਨਾਲ ਬੁਨਿਆਦੀ ਮਤਭੇਦਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਵਾਲਾ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਸੋਮਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਅਪਣੇ ਅਸਤੀਫੇ ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਫ੍ਰੀਲੈਂਡ ਦਾ ਅਸਤੀਫਾ ਉਸੇ ਦਿਨ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਇਕ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਣ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਅਪਡੇਟ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ 2023/24 ਲਈ ਬਜਟ ਘਾਟੇ ਵਿਚ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਣ ਵਾਧਾ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਉਮੀਦ ਸੀ। ਦੱਸ ਦਈਏ ਕਿ ਫ੍ਰੀਲੈਂਡ ਅਤੇ ਟਰੂਡੋ ਵਿਚਾਲੇ ਅਸਹਿਮਤੀ ਕਥਿਤ ਤੌਰ ’ਤੇ ਅਸਥਾਈ ਟੈਕਸ ਛੋਟਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਨਵੇਂ ਖਰਚੇ ਦੇ ਉਪਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਸਤਾਵਿਤ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਪੈਕੇਜ ਦੇ ਆਲੇ-ਦੁਆਲੇ ਕੇਂਦਰਿਤ ਹੈ।
ਫਰੀਲੈਂਡ ਨੇ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਦੀ ਮਹਾਂਮਾਰੀ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਮੁੜ ਉਭਾਰ ਦੀ ਰਣਨੀਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਕਾਰ ਦੇਣ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਫਟਾ ਦੀ ਮੁੜ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਸਮੇਤ ਵਪਾਰ ਸਮਝੌਤਿਆਂ ’ਤੇ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਕਰਨ ’ਚ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਣ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨਿਭਾਈ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅੱਜ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਲਈ ਅੱਗੇ ਵਧਣ ਦੇ ਸੱਭ ਤੋਂ ਵਧੀਆ ਰਸਤੇ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਟਰੂਡੋ ਨਾਲ ਮਤਭੇਦ ਸੀ।
